Hydrogen energy is regarded as the most promising clean energy source in the 21st century. Scientists believe that hydrogen energy will replace oil and become the main energy source by 2050, and human beings will enter a complete “hydrogen economy” society. As an ideal new energy source, hydrogen energy has many incomparable advantages.
The lightest weight: Under the standard condition, when the density is 0.0899g/l and temperature is – 252.7 ℃, the hydrogen can become liquid, and if the pressure is increased to hundreds of atmospheres, the liquid hydrogen can be changed into metal hydrogen.
The best thermal conductivity: 10 times higher than that of most gases.
Universal Elements: It is estimated that the hydrogen constitutes 75% of the mass of the universe. In addition to hydrogen in the air, it is mainly stored in water in the form of compounds, and water is the most extensive substance on earth. It is estimated that if all the hydrogen in seawater is extracted, the total heat generated by it will be 9,000 times greater than all the fossil fuels on the earth.
Recycling: The waste from automobiles using hydrogen energy is only water, so hydrogen can be decomposed and recycled again.
Ideal calorific value: except for nuclear fuel, the calorific value of hydrogen is 142,351 kj/kg,and is the highest of all fossil fuels, chemical fuels and biofuels, , which is three times the calorific value of gasoline.
Good combustion performance: fast ignition, wide range of combustibility when mixed with air, and high ignition point, fast combustion speed.
Non-toxic: Compared with other fuels, hydrogen combustion is the cleanest. Except for the generated water and a small amount of hydrogen nitride, it will not produce pollutants harmful to the environment such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons, lead compounds and dust particles,also small amount of hydrogen nitride will not pollute the environment after proper treatment, and the water generated by combustion will also not pollute the environment,it can continue to produce hydrogen and recycle it repeatedly.The is non-corrosive and non-destructive to the equipment.
Using various forms: heat energy can be generated by combustion, mechanical power can be generated in thermal engines, energy materials can be used in fuel cells, or solid hydrogen can be converted into structural materials.
Various forms: metal hydrides occur in gaseous, liquid or solid state, which can meet the different requirements of storage, transportation and various application environments.
Low wastage: long-distance high-voltage transmission can be canceled, and replaced by long-distance and short-distance pipeline transmission of hydrogen, the safety is relatively improved, and the ineffective loss of energy is reduced.
